Music and Art In Your Backyard

I have always found it difficult to express myself verbally, not to mention on paper. So whenever I read prose and poetry that seems to take the words right out of my mouth and weave them so eloquently on paper that it creates a visceral effect, I feel the need to share them with everyone! Akosua Atuah is a poet and writer who is able to do just that.

I wish I had found out about her before National Poetry Day because she would have had a feature on this website for sure. Better late than never right?!

Atuah is one of the writers that can take the mundane and elevate it to the next level, making it a moment worth remembering. Her thoughts range from the affects of love to a homage to past friendship. It's not necessary the words she uses or the mastering of the English language that makes her work stand out but their simplicity and the precision in how each pronoun, verb, and adjective arrange to have just the right impact. She speaks to the every day people. There is something on her website for anyone who has ever felt misunderstood. I will let Akosua Atuah's word do the talking.
