Where to Shop on Record Store Day in Austin

Saturday, April 22 is Record Store Day all over the country. This is a great opportunity to stock up on your vinyl collection or [insert favorite record medium]. It is also a great time to buy music for emerging musicians in your little town. For us here in Austin, music (particularly live music) is central to our culture. So this is definitely a day we look forward to. That said, below is a list of great places to buy/and or celebrate Record Store Day in Austin!

Exploded Records at Juiceland | 4500 Duval St, Austin, TX 78751

Further North, you will find a few places to buy records, particularly on North Loop, which basically vintage store alley. Exploded Records houses your household names but you can also purchase cassettes, if you are still into that. They are open as early as 7am for Record Store Day and will have free Yerba Mate on hand for the early folks and in-store performance throughout the day. One of our featured artist, TwoFour Seven, will be performing under the moniker, Out of Place. 

Turntable Records | 1903 S 1st St B, Austin, TX 78704

Described as "Austin's source for Tejano and Conjunto music, Latin Hip-Hop and Freestyle, Top 40, Texas music and fine variety vinyl," this could really shake up your music collection. So head there asap! 

End of an Ear | 4304 Clawson Rd, Austin, TX 78704

This store is another great one to explore. Great selection of vinyls and CDs, vintage and new. You may also catch live performances in here on occasion.

Waterloo Records | 600 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX 78703

This store is a main feature not just for locals but for music festivals too. They also sell records of local musicians too! Patrons also have the opportunity to listen to live performances in the store too.

Antone's Records | 2928 Guadalupe St

This record store is certainly worth the trip. It's live on the Drag and has been open 30 years! They tend to focus on blues and local music. If that's your thang, then I suggest you head down there on Saturday!

Friends of Sound | 700 Fredericksburg Rd, San Antonio, TX 78201

Off the beaten path in South Austin is this hidden gem. You can find so many great records here from a wide variety of genres, including international music. This is perfect for those who eclectic taste.
