August 21st saw the coming out party of Bad Girl Confidence. It was such a wonderful event, slow to start, but eventually it picked up with people milling in from other events. Outside, Roshi K, one of the original artists featured in the first issue of Bad Girl Confidence, created a striking momento to Bad Girl Confidence; a mural that was just as badass as the artist who created it.
Also in residence were Candy Kuo and Consetta Rubel, two artists that have been featured on the website. Candy wowed the crowd with her live painting, while Consetta's sketched as the audience perused prints from her Brown Paper Bag series.
Tay Miles and Lakeem Wilson also attracted a lot of attention at their booth. It was great to see people really interact with the artists, taking in their work, and getting excited about their purchase. This was definitely the vibe and atmosphere that I had worked hard to create.
Finally, I have to thank the vendors who showed up. Lauren Ortel from Wine & Design jeweleries not only contributed to the swag bag but also featured in the event. Additionally, the amazing Cam Cam from inspiring brand VISYOULIZE was there to trade in hats and other swags. I heard nothing but praise about these two vendors.
Musicially, DJ Mahealani and DJ Ang G kicked off the evening with some just the right dance-floor tunes that got a whole family dancing together. I cannot thank these two wonderful ladies enough for how they kept the atmosphere going. The bands on the bill were The Manifest Electric with their acoustic-driven Indie Folk music and Blue Bear that finished off with full on folk and some beautiful harmonies. Both bands complimented each other, filing the room effortlessly. It goes without saying that the music and the visual artists made the event a success. I am looking forward to making the next one bigger and better! So stay tuned!
