Halloween is hands down one of my favorite holidays of the year. It is an opportunity for me to really channel my bad girl confidence in full on costume. One of my major rules for a costume is that it pays homage to an incredible, brave, feminist woman. I've been "She" from the film Machete, Geena Davis' pirate character from Cutthroat Island, and a witch (the most feminist of all mythical creatures). This year I am hopefully going to pull together a Imperator Furiosa costume. It's ambitious by anyone's standard but should be fun to do!
So with a week to go, I am throwing out some great ideas for you badass girls and women who want to exurb some bad girl confidence but are just a little stuck on who you should channel. I could go on about why each of these women deserve your homage for one night (or all nights) of the year, but I will let them convince you.
FRIDA KAHLO (HER SELF PORTRAIT)
Instead of just dressing full on as Frida, why not make your costume an interpretation or direct homage to one of her many self portraits. Take it up a level!
Not only is this badass woman a spy, she shut down male misogyny every day. Probably one of the easiest costumes to get and you will have a sweater dress and knee high boots for the impending winter. Win and #Winning!
Tell me about your costume for this year! Who will you be paying homage to?
